I hope everyone is having fun holidays.
As we are nearing the end of the school year, students are rushing to try to earn the recorder belts and ukulele flowers they were working towards. If they do not finish before the end of the school year, they are encouraged to test in the summer and pick up the belts/flowers from me in September. I'll check my email for incoming summer tests - and I'm looking forward to receiving them.
Have a happy summer everyone! On Monday May 3rd, please join us for the Canada-wide celebration of Music Monday. This event highlights the importance of music education in our schools.
All students are learning Oscar Peterson's "Hymn to Freedom" which will be sung by everyone across Canada at the same time on May 3rd! Click here to learn more about this year's song! Students in my recorder classes may now earn some "Music Theory" belts! These online interactive worksheets can be found under "More" on the website or you can click on the link below.
Recorder Music Theory Belts I'm so thrilled that I am starting to receive many recorder and ukulele recordings by email as students begin to test for their recorder belts and ukulele flowers! Thank you to everyone for making the effort to send in recordings. I'm having a blast listening to them all. It's so much fun.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me. The Grade 4/5 classes have started to play the ukulele in music classes! If you are wanting to purchase a ukulele for your child, please make sure that it is a Soprano ukulele with "D6 Tuning". This means that the strings are "Low A, D, F#, B".
It would be great for the students to have their own ukulele both for safety reasons and for practising at home. All the ukulele lesson and testing materials can be found on this website. If you need more information, please feel free to contact me! Thanks to everyone for taking part in the "Farm Animal Olympics"! All the judge's votes have been counted. And the winner is...... Funny Farm Video... for your entertainment! Hi everyone!
I hope you're doing well and enjoying some music at home. I'm very happy to be receiving recorder and ukulele recordings from some of you! I love knowing that you're enjoying music at home and continuing to work on your instruments. You have a bit more time to get your votes in for the "Farm Olympics". I've received several votes so far and can't wait for the rest of them to come in. Hope you're having a great week! Miss Onuma Hello everyone!
I would love you to try the "Farm Olympics" rhythm activity which you can find by clicking here. A couple of families have gone through it together and let me know that it was a lot of fun! Students need to work through rhythm puzzles to figure out the password to gain access to some cute and funny "Farm Olympic Event" videos. At the end, they vote on their favourite. A big "thank you" to my sister for the farm videos. I can't wait to receive your votes! Parents are siblings are more than welcome to vote for their favourite animal for the GOLD too. Miss Onuma Dear Campus View Students,
